"Where People Meet Jesus"
The results are in for the 2009 BBQ Cook-off!
This is the cook-off that determines who cooks the best BBQ in northeastern North Carolina for the year, 2009!
We had seven trophies to hand out this year to the 15 teams that competed.
The ending tallies were as follows:

The first place trophy for the 2009 season went to Corinth Baptist Church of Elizabeth City.
This was the Corinth team's first year to attend this event.
A team of seven men came, cooked, and competed against 14 other teams.
They had a wonderful time, and winning 1st did not hinder that good time either.
The first place team's name will go on a plaque that hangs in the Cale Retreat meeting hall.

The team that took second place was Tarheel Smokers of Hertford.
Roy and Gay Murray, along with their son Chris, prepared a great pig for all to enjoy.
This was Roy's second time to join the competition at Cale.

There was a first and second place trophy for the Best-dressed Pig display.
Cooks dressed up their pigs spit-side.

First place for best-dressed pig with the theme of, "Hog Heaven" went to New Hope Christian Fellowship of Hertford.
The pig wore angel wings and a halo.

Second place for best-dressed pig with the theme of "Easter Bonnet" went to Tarheel Smokers of Hertford.
