Program cost

Archery
Visitors to Cale from age 6 to 66 enjoy this program. Cale has a variety of bows from small recurve to the Matthews Genesis or Browning compound bows for a bit more challenge. Whether you are shooting at the round targets or the life size 3-D deer size targets, we think your group will enjoy this program. Cale staff will always be on hand to help assist you in shooting straight. Archery is a fun program and Cale offers the range and equipment to help you enjoy this activity to the max! Cale supplies compound bows, arrows and targets. Cale instructor will be present during entire program. Individuals may bring their own bow and arrows. Archery instruction is $10.00 per person. Minimum size of group is 6.

Basketball
Two asphalt courts will keep many in your youth group happy for hours. Adults as well as youth enjoy this program. There is no charge for this program. No skateboards are allowed on BB court. Thanks!

Canoe
Cale sits on the shores of the Perquimans River which is one of the most beautiful rivers in North Carolina. You may launch from the camp and paddle up or down the river to discover the natural beauty of this area. Commonly seen are bald eagles, otters, swans, geese, a large variety of ducks, numerous fish species like rock, perch, flounder, and even dolphins during the warmer weather. Life jackets must be worn securely by all participants; paddles and a very lively looking canoe await you at Cale. Rental is $10 for the day and includes paddles & life vest. There does not have to be a lifeguard on duty to use canoes.

Camp fire
An evening fire sitting beside the beautiful Perquimans River or at our new prayer garden area located in the forest is always a great camp tradition. There will be a lot of fun with stories or devotions, or just cooking smores and possum tails. Most groups enjoy a camp fire any time of the year. Our staff will supply the fire wood, build the fire, and start it for you. You're left with wood to keep it going for the evening. The cost for a camp fire is $10.00 and as with all programming, should be scheduled ahead of arrival.

High Ropes Course
New to Cale in 2009, our high ropes course is an exciting adventure for guys or gals, young or old. You'll be harnessed in, safety cords attached, and helmet secure at Cale. After a brief introduction for final adjustments you'll be up the stairs and out on the course, walking the cables and balance beam, hopping along then swinging 20 feet off the ground. Before your feet get on solid ground you must walk the swinging bridge with no handrails and climb the net. Our high ropes course is a self challenging/ team building activity. The cost of this program is $8 per person. Minimum number of people needed for this program is 6. Standard time for this program can run from 1 to 2 hours per group.

Our low ropes course has been used by many throughout Northeastern NC and Southeastern VA for team building. Now our high ropes challenge course will give new opportunities and challenges for youth and adults. Our philosophy is challenge by choice, where participants make their own choices to the level they wish to undertake. Our staff will give plenty of patience and encouragement to help participants through the course.
For group size and pricing information call today about a time at Cale to use the low or high ropes challenge courses.

Horseshoes
Cale offers two official size courts and shoes for your enjoyment. Wooden boxes with a sand clay pit assure the optimum playing court for you and your friends. There is no charge for use of this program.

Low Ropes Course
The 6 challenges on our low ropes course will make for a great team building time for your group. As few as 8 or as many as 16 may take this challenge, but the best number in a group is 12 for the low ropes. Scale the 11 foot wall to escape the attacking "head hunters", swing over a "pool of sharks", walk hundreds of feet above a "canyon" on a tight cable. These are just a few of the challenges your group will face in this team building program. Adults and youth will enjoy this activity. No youth under age 12 may participate in this activity due to insurance/safety restrictions. This program is $3 per person, minimum cost is $24.00 per group. Minimum number of people needed for this program is 7. Standard time for this program is an hour and 15 minutes.

Nature Walk
Cale offers some beautiful trails for your group to follow. Some enjoy the walk in the early morning hours before breakfast, some during mid day and others enjoy grabbing the flash lights and heading out for a late night hike. Our trails are well marked, use the natural contour of the landscape which means there are twist and turns and rises and falls around the swamps. There is no charge to hike the trails although we can supply a guild for you for $15.00. The entire trail is approximately 2 miles although there are short cuts for those not looking for a nature hike marathon.

Rifle Marksmanship
Our rifle range has been a popular program since 2002. With benches and shooting stalls in place it would be hard to find a safer, more enjoyable range. With paper or spinning, plinking targets and some accurate bolt action Marlin 22 caliber rifles, the rifle program at Cale might be a fun activity for your group to try. Cale staff, who are Hunter Education certified, must facilitate this program. Cale will supply firearms, ammunition, and targets. Cale will supply eye and ear protection which must be worn during program. You may bring eye and ear protection from home if you wish. Cale uses .22 bolt action rifles. Minimum number of participants needed for rifle program course is 8. You may bring your own cased firearm from home, but no ammunition please. Rifle Program $12.00 per person.

Rock Climbing Wall
Cale hosts the most unique climbing adventure around. Our 24' high by 42' long wall will challenge the beginner or the advanced climber. Beginners may start on the chimney while die-hards will go straight for no-man's zone. Hit the horns or ring the bell; you and your group are sure to find challenge and a lot of fun on Cale's rock climbing wall. Cale uses Safeway harnesses and the Grigri belay systems to assure your safety while enjoying your climb. Cost for a group up to 8 is $25.00. There is a $3 charge for each person after 8. Cale staff will belay all groups using the rock wall. Ask about discounts for groups over 40.

Sailing
A steady breeze from the south is the standard heading during the warmer months. The beautiful Perquimans River offers a great place to sail our boats. Sleek, fast moving boats with colorful sails will decorate the river, and you and your group will be racing in a short time. Cale staff will be glad to teach you the basics, so you will be underway and enjoying the serenity of sailing in little time. A chase boat is always close by to help out, or the instructor may just jump on another boat and enjoy the day with you. The sailing program is available when the water is warm enough, usually June – Oct. Call about the details of our sailing program for small group instruction. Sailboats take time to set up. Always figure at least 2 hours for this program. Everything is provided, and life vests are always worn. Shoes or strap-on sandals are highly suggested. Sailing cost is $25.00 per person. Minimum number for a program is 4 people.

Sport field
A large grass field awaits your programming imagination. Play softball, kickball, tug of war, ultimate Frisbee, and a whole lot more. Our grass field is wide open for your enjoyment. Cale offers bases for games. There is no charge to use the open sports field.

Swimming
Along with being a beautiful river, the Perquimans is also one of the cleanest rivers in the area. It is not uncommon to be able to view up to 6 feet into the water. The river bottom is a fine sandy surface; however, opened clam shells are very commonly found and stepped on. During Cale events, shoes are always required to go walking or swimming in the river. For more information on this, feel free to call the office for details. Except for baptisms, all groups that use the water to swim must have a currently certified Red Cross or YMCA lifeguard on duty at all times. This is strict insurance policy and no one is allowed in the water without a life guard. If you need a lifeguard, call about availability as we may be able to reserve you one. Cost for lifeguard is $12 per hour with a 3-hour minimum fee. Groups must call 2 weeks in advance if they want Cale to reserve them a life guard.

Trap Range
(some may call this skeet shooting)
This program involves using a shotgun to shoot clay discs out of the air. Cale offers the latest technology with several Promatic skeet throwers. We can start easy and work our way up to some real challenges on our range. Single or doubles, flying in high or away real low, the trap range at Cale is proving to be one of the most popular programs we offer. Cale offers 20 gauge Jr. size shot guns, and 20 or 12 gauge full size for adults. A certified Hunter Safety graduate with extensive training will be your guide and will be glad to provide instructions if asked. Cale staff, who are NC Hunter Education Certified, must be in attendance and will facilitate this program. Cale will supply firearms, ammo, and targets (skeet) Cale will supply eye and ear protection which must be worn during program. You may bring eye and ear protection from home if you wish. Cale uses only 20 gauge and 12 gauge firearms. Minimum number of people needed for the trap shooting course is 5. You may bring your own cased firearm from home, but no ammunition please. Trap shooting is $25.00 per person

Volleyball
Our sand court is official size as is the net and ball which will help assure your group hours of fun. There is no charge for this program.
